Mixed media

In a course in mixed media, you get to try creating in several different techniques and materials. Collage is a common form, but mixed media can also be other types of compositions and sculptures.

In a mixed media course, this can mean that you get to use paint, fabric, wood, paper and odd objects to create a work of art. Pablo Picasso used paper, rags, paint and rope to create the collage “Still Life with Chair Caning” back in 1912. The painting stands out from the canvas with a kind of 3D effect and is the first modern artwork considered to have been created in mixed media -technique.

There are really no clear rules for what is "mixed media", it is your imagination that sets the limits.
