Create your own breakfast tableware, coffee tableware or your own serving bowls! Learn to throw and glaze with a beautiful view of Stockholm's inlet.
We will meet in an intimate environment with a maximum of five participants where you will learn to turn and glaze.
The course is aimed at those who are in the starting pits and want to learn the old art of turning, or if you have already turned but need a new start and get help with centering and other techniques. No previous knowledge is required and we will go through the basics of turning and glazing together. The content of the course is tailored and largely adapted to your skills and interests.
Through basic theoretical description and practical exercises in the ceramics workshop, we will during five occasions go through all the steps, from lump of clay to finished ceramics on the set table. You will learn centering, basic turning, loading, glazing and how to burn your product in an electric oven, creasing and glazing.
The workshop takes place on five occasions, each occasion contains both theory and practice on today's topic.
Course start dates:
- January 14, Fridays 09:30-11:30
- February 18, Fridays 09:30-11:30
The workshop includes all the materials you need, clay, underglaze and glaze. Each participant has access to their own turntable, tools, stoneware clay and glaze paints as well as underglaze paints for painted decoration if desired. Everything you have created and want to keep will be burned. After completing the course, you can come back and pick up your finished items.
I'm an engineer who changed path into ceramics. I use my engineering background as an advantage in the creative process and I love to throw and experiment. My workshops are held in my beautiful studio at Kvarnholmen with a beautiful view over lake Mälaren. I'm originally from France and I speak Swedish, English and French.
