Get a powerful insight into the craft of glassblowing at the workshop. Try glassblowing in a unique glass cabin. Here you get to be part of transforming hot soft mass into finished glass. The environment itself is worth a visit, a special glass cabin with a view of Lake Mälaren in Hägersten. The temperature of the glass is about 1200 degrees when it is in the glass oven as a liquid mass. In the heat of the oven, with the help of a mentor, you can blow, shape and design each glass object from beginning to end. Among other things, you will have to balance the glass on the barrel, shape the glass mass in a scoop and blow air through the barrel to create the object. You will use cutting scissors and more tools that lead to a finished glass ball. The glass should eventually be placed in a cooling oven at around 500 degrees to cool slowly. Of course you get what you have created with you. The glass objects can be picked up no earlier than 24 hours after the workshop.

Gunilla Kihlgren
I live and work in Stockholm where I have my studio and glass cabin. I work with unique, sculptural objects in warm glass. The scale of my works varies from small interior design objects to public spatial design. Most of my work I do in my glass cabin, but when special techniques or materials are required, I have worked with workshops in the Czech Republic and Italy, among other places. During the more than thirty-five years as an artist, I have exhibited in several galleries and museums both in Sweden and abroad. In addition to my studio work, I have been active in several artists' organizations and taught at the University of Helsinki University of Art and Design. Instagram: Kihlgrens_glashytta
