About the expert

I've been creating my whole life, and my career in the textile business started with my own clothing line years ago. Once I became a mother, my focus shifted from women's wear to children's clothing and sustainable and eco-friendly products. Now I run my company: Stella sews, full time from Gävle and I sew sustainable home goods as well as teach creative classes, both in person and online. Knitting and sewing has given me such pleasure my whole life and I find it unbelievably satisfying to dress my child in a sweater I knitted or to wear a skirt I made from scratch. I want to help others be able to do the same. Being creative with your hands is not only satisfying, but can also be good therapy as well as uniting people from all over the world.

About the Skillbreak

We learn the basics of knitting, talk about different kinds of yarn, knitting needles and much more. This is a very custom workshop, I will give you advice and make sure you’re getting a flying start on your very first knitting project. At least one week before the workshop, let me know a little bit about yourself, if you have a dream project that you'd like to do or any other ideas. I will get a starting kit for you, and will advise you on what yarn and needles to use for your first project. I always work with natural materials like wool, linen and cotton - so let me know if you have any allergies before so I can shop accordingly.

Key learnings

  • Get comfortable with the basics; cast on, knit and bind off.
  • Learn how to read a yarn label and simple patterns.
  • Getting started on your dream project.

Additional information

Materials for the workshop is included and you can bring everything with you home.
