About the expert

Julia Mjörnstedt Karlsten is the founder of the organisation “Ung Cancer”, photographer and freelance writer. She lives in Gothenburg with her husband and baby daughter. Since one year she is also the founder of Woollie, making colorful soft blankets in eco-friendly merino wool. Woollie was born when she needed a baby-friendly blanket for her daughter. Keen to create something for real, with her own bare hands, she started knitting one.

About the Skillbreak

Knitting is fun, but creating a blanket can take days or weeks of work. This fun and speedy technique super-sizes knitting using your own arms as needles and extra-chunky yarn. During the evening you’ll learn to master the common techniques and once the basics are covered, you’ll be ready to tackle all sorts of other projects. You’ll make your own blanket to bring home with you - a perfect gift for yourself or someone you love. Welcome drink, wool yarn for a small blanket (60x90 cm) in any color is included. Let Julia know what color you’d like when you book.

About Woollie

Woolie was founded by Julia Mjörnstedt Karlsten in 2015. All blankets are handmade and when we say handmade we literally mean handmade. We don't use any knitting needles, but our bare arms and hands. All blankets and scarves are made of 100% merino wool of the highest quality standards. The dyes we use conform with Oeko-Tex 100 quality system and our wool only comes from non-mulused sheep.
